Project – Harvest Center

Harvest Center

The Harvest Center serves the homeless, low-income families and disadvantaged youths in Charlotte, NC. We support its mission to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless and restoring them to full and productive lives.

The Need

The area where Harvest Center operates was ranked one of Charlotte’s most violent, drug-plagued neighborhoods. To break the cycle of poverty, the Center provides “hands up” programs for the homeless and qualified individuals wanting to rebuild their lives and succeed.

Programs

·      We partner with the Harvest Center to feed the homeless, reach out to children in an after-school program, support women recovering from abuse and offer addiction recovery programs to men and women.

·      We promote economic independence through a Transitional Job program designed to move women from joblessness and homelessness to meaningful employment and independent living.

·      We fund and maintain Rosa’s House, which offers transitional housing for women and children.

·      We initiated successful programs such as the Clothing Closet and the self-esteem building knitting and crochet classes.
