DRUID HILLS ACADEMY

(Dynamic, High achieving students Embracing Success!) 

Druid Hills Academy is minutes from downtown Charlotte.  It is located just off Graham Street in a new facility with state-of-the-arts computers.  Druid Hills has to overcome many adversities due to the high poverty level of the students that attend.  Druid Hills fosters a culture of caring by teaching students to care about self, others, the world, and their own learning. The principal, Allison Hiltz, and Communities in School (CIS) Site Coordinator, Joseph Allen, are our main contacts and are excited to work with our WOV partners. 

Druid Hills needs volunteers! They currently do not have outside volunteers and their PTA membership is small.  The children need one on one attention and the teachers need support!  Our time and commitment to these children can and will make a huge difference in their lives.

We are currently offering volunteer opportunities once a week, once a month, once a year and anything in between.  We need lunch buddies, mentors/tutors, grade level parents and teacher appreciation volunteers.  We will also have as needed volunteers for field trips and group projects throughout the year. 

Women of Vision Charlotte has felt the incredible impact of our partners in action last year at Druid Hills and hope that you will choose to remain or become a part of it this year!  As you may know, the school will transition from a PreK-5th to a PreK-8th & is now named Druid Hills Academy.  The challenges & needs remain the same as we "share the journey" with DHA, building relationships that enrich us all.

CMS Registration

Please take 5 minutes to register with CMS so that you will be able to volunteer at Druid Hills.  The process is easy!  Click Here and select Volunteers.  Then, click on Register to Volunteer and fill out the basic info required.

Harris Teeter VIC Cards

Please link your Harris Teeter VIC card to Druid Hills, #3151.  You may link your VIC card to more than one school if you have already signed up for your child’s school! Click Here.

General Mills Box Tops

Cut and save the Education Square on your General Mills boxes, bags etc.  You may take these to Druid Hills or give to us at a Partnership Meeting!  Click Here.

Commitment

Please remember to call or email Joseph (joseph1.allen@cms.k12.nc.us),  Suzanne Hunt (suzanne.hunt@cms.k12.nc.us), if you are unable to make your scheduled volunteer time.  It is vital to the children, staff and our partnership that we are consistent and reliable!!
